7 simple steps to install MySQL on Centos 7 / RHEL 7.

Please make sure you have Sudo permissions before continuing with installation.

1. Download latest Community Edition of MySQL

$ wget

2. Install rpm package

$ sudo rpm -ivh mysql-community-release-el7-5.noarch.rpm

3. Run yum update

$ sudo yum update

4. Install MySQL Server

$ sudo yum install mysql-server

5. Restart mysql services

$ sudo systemctl start mysqld

6. Find temporary password by grepping log file

$ sudo grep 'temporary password' /var/log/mysqld.log

7. Run secure installation where you can configure root password.

$ sudo mysql_secure_installation
